Nutrition Coaching: A Highly Nuanced Process

Intangible, but powerful.

Nutrition coaching is not what you might think. There’s no calorie counting, short-term targets or food denial.  It's far more personal and powerful than that.

Nutrition coaching is about connection, curiosity, and change. It’s about understanding who you are, how you eat, and why. It’s about gently unpicking long-held beliefs and building a more aligned, sustainable relationship with food.

Here’s what the process looks like.

Step 1: Food and Mood Diary – awareness first

Before our first session, we begin with a food & mood diary.

This isn’t a numbers game or a tracker for judgment. It’s an honest, open account of what you eat and how you feel, both emotionally and physically. Every bite, every craving, every moment of joy or discomfort. This diary becomes a powerful mirror. It’s the very first step in shifting your eating trajectory.

It builds awareness. And awareness is always the first step toward change.

Step 2: The Deep Dive – 90 Minutes that could change everything

Next comes the 90-minute discovery session, a deep, supportive exploration of your food world. Together, we unpack your habits, history, patterns, preferences and identity around food.

This is not about blame or perfection. It’s about curiosity, clarity and next steps. We co-create your personal pathway - something that feels doable and real because that’s where the magic lies.

Step 3: Tailored Coaching – modular, flexible, you-led

From here, no two paths look the same.

Some clients need one session - an honest conversation, a little science, and they’re off. Others need more guidance, support and accountability. Whether it’s 2 sessions or 8, we go at your pace, in your direction.

We might work on:

  • Eating vision and values – anchoring your choices to what truly matters to you

  • Eating culture – exploring how you eat, not just what you eat

  • Problem patterns – from UPF (ultra-processed food) habits to sugar dependency

  • Belief systems – myth-busting and building new, empowering truths

  • Emotional drivers – uncovering what’s beneath the surface

This work is layered, powerful and deeply individual.

My core focus areas

I have 9 core focus areas, but over time, I’ve noticed that three distinct themes come up again and again, Tackling these is where I see real impact and meaningful changes.

1. Nurturing the Microbiome

A healthy gut doesn’t just aid digestion. It’s linked to immunity, mental clarity, skin, mood and inflammation. I help you bring in the fibre-rich, whole-food variety that supports your internal ecosystem and sets the foundation for long-term health.

2. Reducing Ultra-Processed Foods (UPFs)

UPFs are engineered to override your natural cues - making you hungrier, foggier, and more dependent. Cutting back (even gradually) helps rebalance hunger, stabilise energy and reclaim real satisfaction from food again.

3. Reducing Sugar, or Its Impact

It’s not always about quitting sugar completely. It’s about understanding what sugar does in your body, where it hides, and how to manage its effects in smarter, kinder ways. This isn’t restriction, it’s resilience.

Ongoing Support – you’re not alone

Life shifts. Seasons change. Holidays happen. And sometimes, old patterns creep back in.

That’s why I offer ad-hoc support when you need it most—whether it’s after a holiday, during a high-stress season, or when your motivation dips. The constant is me, and my mission to help you stay grounded in progress, not perfection.

What’s the Goal?

Ultimately, the goal is to help you shift your eating trajectory, not just temporarily, but in a sustained way. To help you eat in alignment with how you want to feel. To support the kind of health that’s lived in everyday moments, not just in dramatic transformations.

Nutrition coaching is nuanced. It’s intangible. It’s not flashy. But it is powerful. And it works.
